The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many organizations to rapidly adopt cloud solutions for email, office applications, collaboration and conferencing. The solutions are generally having a positive impact on productivity, keeping team members connected, and making the best of the work from home change. On the other side of the security equation are cyber criminals dramatically increasing their attacks, looking for poorly configured solutions, access to credentials, and anything they can use to defraud organizations with inadequate security. Many of the ongoing attacks are not new, they are the same ransomware, credential theft emails, and fraud attacks as we have been seeing the last several years – but they are taking advantage of our pandemic-angst and work-from-home practices to increase attacks. This presentation will cover current trends and attacks, ways to protect you individually, and what organizations can do to improve cyber security protection. Standards which can be of assistance will be discussed, with focus on practical solutions for immediate use.
Understand how cyber attackers are using the pandemic to increase their attacks
Gain insight into practical solutions to thwart cyber attackers
Understand the practices and frameworks available to help improve cyber security

We are excited to be holding our first Virtual Zoom Meeting and its Free!
Date:Thursday, September 17, 2020 Venue: Live Webinar (Zoom link will be sent to registrants) Speaker: Jack Holder Program: “Employee Benefits” Time: 6:00 – 7:00 pm Speaker and Q&A 7:00 – 7:15 Announcements & Scholarship ticket drawings
We’re holding our first ever virtual meeting with our guest speaker Jack Holder via Zoom. Jack will be talking about Employee Benefits options that companies can offer. This will be informative to you if your company offers these benefits, as it will allow you better insight into these programs. For anyone as an employer that is thinking of offering additional benefits you will also want to attend to gain a better understanding of the different programs available. Jack will be talking about benefits such as pet insurance, telehealth, legal protection, voluntary enhanced benefits, and micro loans to name a few.
Jack Holder is a co-founder of Enhanced Benefits Insurance Solutions (EBIS for short). Jack built his business by working with health insurance brokers primarily with a leading voluntary insurance carrier. He held the p osition regional manager for 10 of the 14 years and achieved many of the company benchmarks including: state convention s, national conventions, and several awards for double digit growth. His passion is to find solutions that are a win/win for all parties involved. His vision is to build sustainable strategies that introduce enhanced voluntary benefits with broker partners to employers and their employees. With this in mind EBIS was created to better provide the solutions his broker partners and business clients. He is from the beautiful state of Oregon and chose to move to California to seek new opportunities after graduating from Portland State University. He met his wife, Jackie, in San Diego and now has two daughters; Amirah and Sadie. In his free time he plays co-ed recreational soccer, spends time in the desert with his family, volunteering, and loves almost everything outdoors. TOPIC OUTLINE Increasing benefit packages at low are no cost to attract employees. What are some of the options out there that companies are implementing and talking about? Many companies today are looking for ways to stay competitive to attract multi-generational employees; cost, knowledge and time all become obstacles. There are many kinds of benefits that can be offered to employees today such as pet insurance, telehealth, legal protection, voluntary enhanced benefits, and micro loans to name a few. Utilizing voluntary benefits to reduce or mitigate costs: We look at strategies that could help with high workers’ compensation industries mitigate some of the unwanted Monday Morning Claims. 78% of Americans today live paycheck to paycheck and with increasing deductibles for major medical workers’ comp claims are rising. There are also other ways for employers to save money and help improve benefit packages as well. Employee engagement for benefits: We call this “Celebration of Benefits”. What technologies and strategies are being used to reach multigenerational employees? Email may work, but what else is there? Let’s leverage technology to connect to everyone.

Introvert or Extrovert?
Who’s happier? More successful? Valued more?
According to Susan Cain, best-selling author, the innate preference between introvert and extrovert is as important in defining your personality as gender or race. Since the population is equally split between Extroverts and Introverts, there is a good chance that you’re interacting with your polar opposite every day. Knowing how to bring out the best in others is a critical component of leading a high-performing team. Learn the differences between Introverts and Extroverts and why it is important for your team.
With 25+ years of experience leading large, strategic teams in the complex IT world, Barbara combines her vast knowledge of team dynamics with a love for personality science to partner with teams to reach their full potential. Her philosophy is that understanding and valuing your teammates is essential because people drive team performance. Her company, Rocking Your Team, uses personality wisdom and team dynamics to provides an invaluable learning experience. In today’s digital world, almost everything leaves an electronic footprint. This allows for attorneys in litigation to dig through more evidence than ever, known as eDiscovery.
Because of how rapidly technology develops, non-legal professionals should be aware of the nuances of eDiscovery to help their clients. An overview of eDiscovery will be presented wth a short scenario to illustrate how eDiscovery works in litigation.
Christine Stansall began her legal career after graduating from UC San Diego and obtaining her paralegal certificate from University of San Diego’s ABA-approved program in 1995. In her 20 years a paralegal, she went on to earn the Certified Paralegal and Advanced Certified Paralegal certifications in multiple areas of law from the National Association of Legal Assistants, and the California Advanced Specialist in Discovery from the Commission for Certification of California Paralegals.
Ms. Stansall’s traditional paralegal career evolved into E-Discovery and litigation support when she found she enjoyed combining tech know-how with her legal training. In 2015, she earned the title of ACEDS Fellow from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists program through UC Irvine’s E-Discovery program, then followed up with the CEDS credential in 2017. Currently, she is the Litigation Support Analyst at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch where she assists the legal teams in every phase of litigation, from legal holds, collections, early case assessments, document review, productions, motions practice, to trial presentations. Ms. Stansall is trained to use Relativity, Eclipse, CaseMap, TextMap, TimeMap, Trial Director, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint. She advocates for using project management principles in E-Discovery processes for defensibility and proportionality in a matter.
Ms. Stansall is a member of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists and the San Diego chapter of the Women in Ediscovery. She is on the advisory board for the UC San Diego Extension’s E-Discovery and Litigation Technology program. She regularly attends the monthly San Diego ESI Forum sessions and believes in always learning because litigation is always evolving.

Vice President’s Notes: For those of you who were unable to attend last month’s Fire Awareness & Preparedness presentation by Captain Dave Hardenburg you missed an information packed event! Dave gave us a lot of useful information on protecting our homes but more importantly he gave us a lot of insight on what the fire fighter are doing during a wild fire. How they protect first and foremost human life then property. It is so amazing that these brave men and women put their lives at risk doing their job. I can’t express how appreciative and grateful I am for these brave firefighters especially as I experienced the Cedar/Crest fires first hand as the fire came through my property. Thankfully our home and our neighbor’s homes were spared. I look forward to seeing everyone next week! Bring a friend!
